Our mission
ShopOMFG is mission-locked from day one. We give 2 cents of every order to charities expanding education access for the next generation - funded by us, never added to a merchant's bill.
2 cents of every order
Every order placed on ShopOMFG sends 2 cents to education-focused charities. It comes out of our share of the per-order fee, not the merchant's, so every sale on the platform gives back at no cost to the people selling. As the platform grows, so does the contribution.
Where it goes
Our giving is led by Room to Read, which builds literacy and girls' education programs in low-income communities around the world. The rest of the portfolio supports proven, independently evaluated education organizations:
- Room to Read - our primary partner. Literacy and girls' education in low-income countries, with programmatic outputs like books, schools, and libraries.
- Evidence Action (Deworm the World) - a GiveWell-rated program whose mechanism is keeping kids healthy and in school.
- Discretionary and team-directed giving - classroom requests, scholarships, and causes our team and merchants care about.
Why education
Every entrepreneur was once a kid with an idea. We fund the ones who do not yet have a platform. We chose a single, focused cause - global education access for children - rather than spreading thin across many. The commitment is platform-funded, not added to merchant or shopper bills.
Our structural commitments
- 2 cents of every order to education charities, led by Room to Read.
- Public Benefit Corporation. Expanding global education access for children is written into our charter as a public benefit purpose.
- Pledge 1% member. A standing commitment to give back as the company grows.
- Annual giving report. We will publish what we gave and to whom, transparently.
